Longtime former Denver Broncos radio broadcaster Larry Zimmer has died.
The Broncos announced in a statement that Zimmer died on Saturday at age 88.

Since 1971, Larry has called some of the franchise’s most iconic moments & helped honor some of our greatest legends.

Zimmer called Broncos games on KOA Radio for 26 years. He was the team’s radio color commentator from 1971-1989 before becoming the play-by-play announcer in 1990. Zimmer spent another seven years as Denver’s play-by-play announcer.
Zimmer called more than 500 Broncos games, including 20 playoff games and four Super Bowls. He was also the voice of the University of Colorado football team for 42 seasons before retiring in 2016.
Zimmer was inducted into the Broadcast Professionals of Colorado Hall of Fame in 2009, the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame in 2010 and the CU Athletics Hall of Fame in 2012.
A Louisiana native and former U.S. Army Lieutenant, Zimmer is survived by his wife Brigitte son, daughter and granddaughter.
