The Cleveland Browns prompted speculation about Myles Garrett’s future after adjusting his contract last week, but they are now trying to put any of those rumors to rest.
Browns general manager Andrew Berry did not address specifics about the contract adjustment on Sunday, but said the team would not have had to do that to trade the star edge rusher. He went on to call Garrett a “career Brown.”
“Myles is a career Brown. He is one of the faces of our organization. I think we’ve been very clear both past and present,” Berry told reporters.

Berry does appear to be telling the truth in this instance, with the Browns firmly against trading their star. As long as the team is not competing to make the playoffs, however, the rumors will linger, especially after Garrett’s high-profile trade request last year and some of the other signals he has sent.
Garrett is coming off a season in which he piled up an NFL record 23 sacks. The Browns cannot replace him, and it appears to be a safe bet that he will be on their roster to start 2026.
