The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are taking a bit of a victory lap on Sunday after winning the NFC South title.

Little was expected of the Buccaneers entering the season, but they managed to go 9-8 and win the division with their 9-0 win over the Carolina Panthers on Sunday. That made a lot of preseason commentary look quite bad, including that of Saints defensive lineman Cam Jordan, who predicted that the Bucs were going to fade back to irrelevance after Tom Brady’s retirement.

Buccaneers GM Jason Licht did not forget that remark, and let Jordan hear it on X after the game.

“Yep, went back to being the Bucs! Champs again,” Licht wrote.

The Buccaneers have earned the right to gloat. They may not have dominated at 9-8, but they did enough to beat the rest of the division, which is all that matters. They’ll get a home playoff game, and Baker Mayfield will have the chance to prove more doubters wrong.
