The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are trying to set the record straight on wide receiver Emeka Egbuka.
Fans grew concerned on Wednesday after an X account allegedly belonging to Egbuka began making several bizarre posts. One such post (from the handle @EgbukaEmeka) controversially read, “Is CTE even real?”
Later in the day on Wednesday, the Buccaneers addressed the situation. They stated that the account was not at all affiliated with either Egbuka or their organization.
“The below account is neither owned nor operated by Emeka Egbuka,” the team wrote. “It is in no way affiliated with Emeka or the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.”

The real Egbuka, 23, is coming off a standout rookie season for Tampa Bay. He caught 63 passes for 938 yards and six touchdowns while playing in all 17 games. Egbuka is expected to have an even larger role in 2026 now that longtime Buccaneers receiver Mike Evans has since moved on to another NFC team.
