Report: Bucs LB Lavonte David week-to-week with ankle sprain
Good news, Buccaneers fans: the injury news on Lavonte David is more encouraging than initially believed.
David left Tampa Bay’s Week 3 game against Minnesota with an ankle injury. NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport then reported on Monday that an MRI showed David had a high ankle sprain and was expected to miss at least a month.
Despite that report, Tampa Bay coach Dirk Koetter said David’s injury wasn’t that bad.
Now ESPN’s Jenna Laine says the Bucs evaluated the injury again and determined David has a medial ankle sprain, which isn’t as bad as a high ankle sprain. She says David is week-to-week with the injury.
David, 27, had 7 tackles in the loss to Minnesota prior to leaving the game. Not only does he rack up tackles, but David also has 18 career sacks and 10 career interceptions since being drafted in the second round in 2012.
