Caleb Williams is sharing some background regarding what may have gone on between him and Troy Aikman this week.

Williams’ Chicago Bears won their Week 6 game against the Washington Commanders 25-24 on “Monday Night Football” to improve to 3-2. Williams went 17/29 for 252 yards and a touchdown and also rushed for a score.

There was a perception among some fans that Aikman, who was serving as a commentator on ESPN for the game, was going hard on the young quarterback.

Others felt the commentary and analysis from Aikman was fair, but some thought the ESPN announcer had an edge with regard to Williams. Is it possible that Aikman may have been bothered by being blown off by Williams?

Williams spoke with the media on Wednesday and said that he failed to connect with Aikman prior to Monday night’s game. Williams said that he was at Halas Hall late on the day they were supposed to meet, and that he tried to call Aikman, but they didn’t connect.

“I didn’t get to meet with him. Tried to meet with him, reached out, tried to meet, and that didn’t happen,” Williams said.

“I was here late and tried to call him after the day that day that I was supposed to meet with him, and didn’t get through.”

Caleb Williams stated today that he and Troy Aikman didn’t have their usual production meeting before Monday Night Football.

It’s customary for top players and coaches to speak with the TV broadcasters prior to an NFL game. That’s a practice that enhances the production of the game. Who knows if it bothered Aikman that he was seemingly blown off by Williams.
