Cam Newton threatens to slap heckler after pay for play jab (Video)

Cam Newton

Cam Newton seems to have a pretty cool overall demeanor, but one thing he is still sensitive about is the rumor that he was paid money to play at Auburn.

The former Tigers quarterback attended Saturday’s Iron Bowl to support his alma mater and got into it with a fan as he headed to the game.

In the background of this video, you can hear a fan say something about “180K.” Cam snaps back, threatening to slap the fan:

The “180K” line is a reference to the rumor that Newton wanted $180,000 to play college ball. Newton was investigated by the NCAA but eventually cleared, though the organization said they suspected his father did shop him around.

It’s really surprising that Newton still lets this sort of thing bother him.
