Chad Johnson is known for his random generosity and was at it again on Friday.
Johnson went to dinner at Gus’s, a fried chicken joint in Austin, and he left a $540 tip.

Johnson said in a note on the receipt that he left $540 because that was the amount of yards he had one season after he upset Cincinnati Bengals owner Mike Brown.

“It’s true, i was coming off a great season & had the nerve to mention a trade in the offseason, i coincidentally only had 540 yards the next season, that definitely came from the top to teach me a lesson on who runs s—,” Johnson said on Twitter.
His gesture and tweets seem to have some present day application. Antonio Brown has been very vocal about forcing a trade from the Pittsburgh Steelers. There was even a report that he blocked a trade to the Bills by saying he would refuse to report to the team. Johnson’s point seems to be that ownership can teach wide receivers a lesson for talking about trades.
Johnson ended up playing two more seasons for the Bengals before heading to New England in 2011, which was his last NFL season. He actually made the Pro Bowl in 2009, the year after his 540-yard dud.
