Champ Bailey gave Pacman Jones permission to wear his number

Champ Bailey is giving Pacman Jones his blessing to wear the No. 24 for the Denver Broncos.

Bailey played 15 seasons during his NFL career, the final 10 of which were with the Broncos. He was a 12-time Pro Bowler, three-time All-Pro, and appears to be a lock for the Hall of Fame.

Since he retired after the 2013 season, the Broncos haven’t given out his number, but a request came in this week for newly-signed Jones to wear it. According to 9 News’ Mike Klis, Champ approved and was just happy they called to ask him.

“But it’s not my call. The franchise can do whatever they want. The fact they respect me enough to ask means a lot. I told them I don’t mind Pacman wearing it. I respect the hell out of him,” Champ said, via Klis.

That’s a cool gesture by both and shows their mutual respect.

Jones has worn No. 24 the past eight seasons with the Bengals, for whom he made two Pro Bowls.
