The Los Angeles Chargers have signed a veteran defensive end in the wake of the injury that Khalil Mack suffered on Monday night.

Clelin Ferrell signed a practice-squad deal with the Chargers on Thursday, according to multiple reports.

Ferrell was drafted by the Las Vegas Raiders with the No. 4 overall pick in 2019. The 28-year-old spent four seasons with the team before playing for the San Francisco 49ers for a year in 2023 and the Washington Commanders last season.

Ferrell, who won two national championships in college at Clemson, appeared in 14 games for Washington last year and made 10 starts. He had 26 total tackles and 3.5 sacks.

Mack suffered what looked like a gruesome arm injury while trying to make a tackle during the Chargers’ 20-9 Week 3 win over the Raiders on Monday night at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nev. He is expected to miss multiple games, though all indications are that he avoided a season-ending injury.
