The Kansas City Chiefs suffered another notable injury blow ahead of Super Bowl LVIII, this time on the defensive side of the ball.
Standout pass rusher Charles Omenihu suffered a torn ACL during Sunday’s AFC Championship victory over Baltimore, according to Jordan Schulz of Bleacher Report. The injury obviously rules Omenihu out for the Super Bowl in two weeks.
#Chiefs pass rusher Charles Omenihu suffered a torn ACL vs the #Ravens, sources tell @BleacherReport.
Omenihu was a huge part of KC’s defensive surge, recording 7 sacks and 2 FF in 11 games — and had a strip sack on Lamar Jackson that resulted in a turnover vs Baltimore.

This represents a big blow to the Kansas City defense, as Omenihu has been a very impactful player this season. He had seven sacks and forced two fumbles in the regular season, and was responsible for a strip sack of Lamar Jackson during the second quarter on Sunday. He suffered the injury just before halftime.
The Chiefs were short a key player in the AFC Championship but still prevailed. Omenihu represents a significant absence, but they have shown the ability to weather such setbacks.
