Chip Kelly: I tried to call LeSean McCoy but he never answered
Chip Kelly says he tried to smooth things over with LeSean McCoy after he traded the Pro Bowl running back to the Buffalo Bills last year, but McCoy wouldn’t return his phone calls.
On Wednesday, Kelly told reporters that he has “no issues” with McCoy and would love to bury the hatchet before Sunday’s game.
“I’d love to shake LeSean’s hand,” Kelly said, according to Tyler Dunne of The Buffalo News. “I tried to call him after. And I talked to his agent after we traded him. I always wanted to talk to LeSean. Again, I have no issues with LeSean at all. He has a great personality, an infectious personality. I have tremendous respect for LeSean.”
Kelly then confirmed that he has not had a conversation with McCoy since the trade.
“No. I tried to call him a couple times after the trade and he didn’t take my phone call and I understand that,” he added.
McCoy said on Tuesday that he has no “hatred” toward Kelly but that the two are not friends. He also stood by the comments he made in which he basically accused Kelly of being racist.
Even if McCoy isn’t still angry at Kelly, you know he would love to put up 150 yards and two touchdowns against the Eagles on Sunday. The same can be said of Kelly, who would love nothing more than to make McCoy a non-factor.
