Chris Long blasts report criticizing Carson Wentz
Chris Long is the latest Philadelphia Eagles player to blast a report that was critical of Carson Wentz.
A report from Philly Voice published on Monday was critical of Wentz. They cited anonymous sources who painted Wentz as selfish on the field, compared to Nick Foles, whom some described as a better fit for the team.
Long, who joined the Eagles a year after Wentz was drafted No. 2 overall in 2016, sent a tweet disputing the report.
Not a big anonymous source in a disparaging article about your franchise QB guy. I am a huge #11 guy. That’s as a player, as a teammate and as a man. I love the dude. I’ve told him. You hate to tweet and give the topic life, but by popular demand… now carson and YOU know.

Long joins several other players who publicly stated their support for Wentz earlier in the day.
Foles’ performance in relief of Wentz the past two seasons has made for an interesting discussion in Philly, but there still remains no doubt in my mind that Wentz is the franchise QB and the guy I’d much rather have long term. Foles has been great in spurts and has done amazing things in Philly, but long term, year after year, Wentz will outproduce him. Players who make these anonymous comments aren’t looking at things from a big picture, and that should be kept in mind.
