CJ Anderson played a big role down the stretch for the Los Angeles Rams last season when Todd Gurley was battling a knee injury, and the veteran is hoping he can duplicate that success with the Detroit Lions.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Anderson and the Lions agreed to a one-year deal on Monday.
Former Rams’ RB C.J. Anderson reached agreement on a one-year deal with the Detroit Lions, per source. Chance to produce this season, then hit market again after this season.

Anderson signed with the Rams late in the season after being waived by the Carolina Panthers. The 28-year-old rushed for 299 yards and averaged a whopping 7.0 yards per carry in two regular season games with LA, and he was also a huge factor in the postseason when he racked up 123 yards and scored two touchdowns in a divisional round win over the Dallas Cowboys.
We had a hunch the Rams weren’t going to bring Anderson back when they matched an offer sheet for another running back. He should provide nice insurance for Detroit behind Kerryon Johnson.
