Clay Matthews likely out a month with broken jaw

Clay Matthews Russell Wilson

The Los Angeles Rams lost linebacker Clay Matthews to a broken jaw in Thursday night’s game against the Seattle Seahawks.

Coach Sean McVay revealed Friday that Matthews is likely to miss roughly a month, and the belief is the linebacker was kicked in the jaw by Seahawks running back Chris Carson.

Matthews had started all five games this season in his first year with the Rams. He had collected 19 total tackles, seven for losses, and six sacks, including one Thursday.

Matthews had a rough night against the Seahawks. In addition to the injury, he was flagged for a controversial penalty that played a big role in Seattle’s comeback win.
