Cole Beasley’s praise for his new wide receivers coach ended up casting a negative light upon the team’s former coach.
Beasley is raving about the Dallas Cowboys’ new wide receivers coach, Sanjay Lal. Speaking from the team’s minicamp, Beasley says thanks to Lal, he will be working on his route-running demeanor. He also offered this quote:
Cole Beasley a big fan of new Cowboys WR coach Sanjay Lal: It feels like the first time we’re actually being taught how to run routes instead of just naturally doing

That’s not exactly an endorsement of the previous wide receivers coach, Derek Dooley.
Dooley, the former Tennessee Vols head coach, coached Cowboys wide receivers from 2013-2017 — all but one of the years since Beasley has been a part of the team. Maybe Dooley has reasons for his style, but it sure seems like Beasley appreciates getting specific direction from his coach. Between this and his interesting tweet this offseason, Beasley is making some headlines.
