Redskins head coach Jay Gruden said on Saturday he has not had the opportunity to speak with Halliday regarding his decision, but indicated personal reasons may be among the reasons.
“I can’t speak for the decision that he made,” Gruden said, according to the Washington Post. “He just chose to jump on a plane and head to the house. Haven’t had a chance to talk with him yet. He just left me a voice message. I’m sure he had personal reasons behind it.”
In 2014, Halliday set an FBS single-game record by passing for 734 yards against the Cal Golden Bears.
