Cowboys confident they will sign Amari Cooper to extension
The Dallas Cowboys have several key offensive players who are looking for long-term contract extensions prior to the start of the regular season, and they remain confident that they can keep their core intact.
Like Dak Prescott, star wide receiver Amari Cooper is entering the final season of his rookie contract. The Cowboys have said multiple times that they want to work out a long-term deal with him, and COO Stephen Jones on Friday once again expressed confidence that the two sides will come to an agreement.
Dallas COO Stephen Jones expects the Cowboys to get a deal done with Amari Cooper "for sure", he said.

Ezekiel Elliott did not report to training camp on Friday, as he is also looking for a new deal. However, he has two years remaining on his rookie contract, so he doesn’t have much leverage. The Cowboys obviously want to keep him happy, but they need to address Cooper’s and Prescott’s contracts before they can become free agents after the season.
Cooper gave the Dallas offense a big boost when they acquired him in a trade with the Oakland Raiders last year. He’ll be well compensated this season with a nearly $14 million salary, but he obviously wants a long-term deal. The 25-year-old caught 53 passes for 725 yards and six touchdowns in just nine games for the Cowboys last season, and it’s possible he could get his extension before Elliott gets his.
