Crazy detail emerges from Eddie Lacy’s DUI arrest
Former Green Bay Packers running back Eddie Lacy was arrested for driving while under the influence last month, and a troubling new detail from the incident has surfaced.
Lacy was pulled over on Sept. 30 in Scottsdale, Ariz., after police observed him committing several traffic violations. He was then found to have an open container of alcohol in his car and arrested on four different DUI-related charges. One of the charges was “extreme DUI — BAC .20 or more.”
According to a new report from TMZ, Lacy submitted to a breathalyzer test and registered a blood-alcohol content of .325, which is more than four times the legal limit.
Before Lacy was stopped, the Scottsdale Police Department received a call from a woman who said she saw a vehicle matching the description of Lacy’s driving so erratically the woman was concerned the driver was “going to kill somebody.”
Police said Lacy admitted to consuming “a single shot” of tequila earlier that day during his flight to Arizona.
Lacy looked like he was going to have a long and successful NFL career after the Packers drafted him in the second round in 2013. The former Alabama star had 1,178 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns in his first season and was named NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year. He also made the Pro Bowl. Lacy had 1,566 total yards from scrimmage and 13 touchdowns in his second season, but things went downhill quickly for him after that.
Lacy played for the Packers for four seasons before wearing out his welcome in Green Bay, mostly because of his inability to stay in shape. He then spent a season with the Seattle Seahawks in 2017 and had weight-related incentives in his contract. Lacy has been out of the NFL since.
