Dan Quinn likely to become next Falcons head coach
Dan Quinn is likely coaching his last home game for the Seattle Seahawks.
Quinn, 44, is regarded as one of the top coordinators in the NFL and has been a hot head coaching candidate since the regular season ended. While many teams have already filled their vacancies such as the Bears, Jets, Bills and Raiders, the Falcons have waited to make their hire. Many believe that is because they have been waiting for Quinn.
NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport says the Falcons have privately been telling people they plan to hire Quinn to replace Mike Smith. He adds that defensive backs coach Kris Richard may take over for Quinn.
Though Seattle’s offense struggled in the NFC Championship Game against the Packers, their defense played extremely well. They came up with multiple turnovers and red zone stops against Green Bay and forced Aaron Rodgers into one of his worst games in recent memory.
Quinn coached in Seattle from 2009-2010 and returned as defensive coordinator last season, where he helped the team reach the Super Bowl.
