Darnell Mooney blows Bears’ walk-off Hail Mary with unbelievable drop
Chicago Bears wide receiver Darnell Mooney came unbelievably close to a miraculous game-winning touchdown, only to drop the deflected pass.
Trailing by three against the Cleveland Browns with one final play from around midfield, the Bears did the only thing they could do and had Justin Fields throw up a Hail Mary. The pass was deflected by a crowd in the end zone, but the deflection fell right into the hands of Mooney.
The play was not easy, but the Bears could not have asked for a much better break. There was one problem: Mooney juggled and dropped the ball.

The close-up replay showed just how close Mooney came to catching the pass — and that he probably should have made the grab.

Had Mooney made the catch, the Bears would have had a miraculous walk-off touchdown. Instead, they will have to rue the fact that they came up just short.
Amazingly, this is not the first time Mooney has come agonizingly close to a game-winning score, only to come up just short.
