Davante Adams had great message for Garrett Wilson after insane TD catch
Garrett Wilson made the catch of the year during the New York Jets’ win over the Houston Texans on Thursday night, and Davante Adams had a great message for his teammate about the play.
The Jets were trailing 10-7 and had 3rd-and-19 from the Houston 26-yard line early in the fourth quarter at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. Aaron Rodgers saw that Wilson was facing single coverage and lofted a pass to the end zone. Wilson made an absurd one-handed catch that was initially ruled incomplete, but review showed that it was a touchdown. You can see the insane play here.
Because of the way Wilson jumped and caught the ball with one hand, some people said the play reminded them of Michael Jordan’s famous “Jumpman” logo. Adams agreed with that and joked that Wilson might have to leave Adidas and sign with Nike — Adams’ endorsement partner — after making the play.
“I told him he might get kicked from Adidas after that one,” Adams said. “That one looked like he headed over to Jumpman with me, so we gonna see. I’m gonna talk to some people about that one. I ain’t gonna say they gonna replace the logo because I know Mike might not like me saying that, but that was a hard catch.”

Wilson’s catch did look exactly like the Jumpman logo, which would have created a perfect marketing opportunity if he were signed with Nike:

Wilson’s incredible touchdown catch gave the Jets a 14-10 lead. They went on to win 21-13 and snap a five-game losing streak, so the importance of the play cannot be overstated.
