Dave Gettleman explains why he put on mask while alone in room
New York Giants general manager Dave Gettleman has become somewhat of a punching bag among the online community. On Thursday, he did something that earned him plenty of ridicule online, though he had a good explanation for it.
Gettleman was at home for the NFL Draft and his home setup was shown on TV by ESPN. As he was shown on TV, Gettleman put on a mask, which looked bizarre since he was sitting by himself.
I love my GM masking up and protecting against the spread of coronavirus even when he’s in his own house. Dave Gettleman is trying to save the world all by himself pic.twitter.com/8b1ImKrBKm

Many instantly wondered why Gettleman would be wearing a mask indoors and seemingly alone.
I'm confused as to why Dave Gettleman put a mask on while sitting alone in a room in his home.

If you mocked Gettleman for his precaution, get ready to feel like a jerk.
Gettleman told reporters that he was wearing the mask because an IT worker was also in the room with him. The Giants general manager is trying to be extra careful because he is a cancer survivor who has undergone chemotherapy.
Dave Gettleman on the mask: “I’ve got a young IT fellow in here with me and we’re social distancing, and part of it’s the mask. I’m fine”
Gettleman is in remission from lymphoma, so naturally the Giants GM is extra cautious amidst the COVID-19 pandemic
