David Johnson: Cardinals can have ‘top offense in league’ with Sam Bradford

The Arizona Cardinals are hoping Sam Bradford can help fill the void left by Carson Palmer retiring, and star running back David Johnson believes the veteran quarterback will be able to do that and then some.

During an appearance on SiriusXM’s Mad Dog Sports Radio, Johnson was asked by host Adam Schein how good he believes the Cardinals’ offense can be in 2018. Let’s just say he’s aiming high.

“We’re gonna be great if Sam Bradford’s healthy. I’ve seen him do some great things,” Johnson said. “I think the biggest thing is just being healthy. Not just with the addition of him, but also the linemen we’ve got, the receivers and everyone else that we’ve added to the team on the offensive side. I think we will definitely be the top offense in the league this year.”

The potential is certainly there for Arizona to be among the best. Larry Fitzgerald is returning after having one of the most productive seasons of his career, and Johnson’s return from a wrist injury should be huge. However, head coaching changes always add an element of surprise, so it remains to be seen how the team will perform under Steve Wilks.

As Johnson alluded to, health will obviously be the biggest wild card with Bradford. Some comments made by Bradford’s former head coach earlier this offseason probably won’t make fans optimistic.
