David Johnson recruits Kirk Cousins to Cardinals on Twitter

David Johnson has his idea of who he would like to succeed Carson Palmer.

The Arizona Cardinals running back tweeted at free agent quarterback Kirk Cousins on Friday in an effort to recruit the former Pro Bowler to his team.

c’mon @KirkCousins8 stop messing with every1 & tell them you’re coming to the desert.

— David Johnson (@DavidJohnson31) March 9, 2018

The need is obviously there for the Cardinals — Palmer announced his retirement in January, and last season’s fill-ins of Drew Stanton and Blaine Gabbert (hardly inspiring options in their own right) are both also free agents.

Meanwhile, the 29-year-old Cousins is perhaps the most coveted free agent on the market this offseason. While Johnson could be the elite running back that Cousins has never really played with before in his career, the Cardinals are still looking like heavy underdogs to sign him behind this fellow NFC team.
