DeAndre Hopkins thanks Brock Osweiler, Brandon Weeden for helping him reach milestone

DeAndre Hopkins

DeAndre Hopkins is well on his way to being enshrined in Canton when his playing days are over, and the star receiver’s accomplishments are even more remarkable when you consider some of the quarterbacks he has played with. However, Hopkins understands he would not be where he is today without all of them — yes, even Brandon Weeden.

Hopkins has surpassed 8,000 receiving yards for his career, and the only two receivers to hit that mark at a younger age are Larry Fitzgerald and Randy Moss. When asked about the feat on Monday, Hopkins noted how he has been able to consistently produce despite a carousel at the quarterback position. While he was essentially saying his numbers should be viewed as even more impressive given some of the QBs he has played with, he did give credit to Weeden and Brock Osweiler.

Hopkins is still in his prime and now has Deshaun Watson to throw to him for the foreseeable future, so his numbers should continue to go up and up. While it was kind of him to give Osweiler and Weeden a shoutout, you have to wonder where his stats would be if the Texans had consistent quarterback play throughout his entire career.

If you remember, Hopkins also defended Osweiler when the QB was struggling as Houston’s starter. You have to give him credit for the way he has handled things, and he’s right — it’s even more impressive when you consider all variables.
