A current San Francisco 49ers star receiver is going at it this week with a former one.
Hall of Fame wideout Terrell Owens made headlines on Thursday with a public criticism that he lobbed at San Francisco’s Deebo Samuel. During an appearance on 95.7 The Game’s “The Morning Roast,” Owens called out Samuel for being more focused on fashion than he was on the game.
“Deebo is not really playing up to Deebo’s standards,” Owens said, per NBC Sports. “Deebo, it seems like he’s more focused on his pregame attire than he is actually [on] the game. So again, if we can shift that focus, maybe that can energize and create more production from an offensive standpoint.”
Word of Owens’ remarks got back to Samuel, and he obviously was not too pleased.

The former All-Pro Samuel has been having an underwhelming 2024 season with 490 total receiving yards and just one touchdown through nine games. The dual-threat playmaker has not been very effective on the ground either with a mere 79 rushing yards plus a touchdown. Samuel also recently went viral for an outburst during a game and has indeed been in the news for his pregame fashion statements this season.

Of course, Owens, who is now 50 years old, had plenty of shenanigans during his own playing career, though they (usually) did not get in the way of his production. Perhaps Owens’ own reputation is why Samuel does not want to hear the criticism coming from him.
