Report: DeMarco Murray turned down invitation to group workout with Saints
DeMarco Murray is one of the biggest names available in free agency at the running back position, but the lack of interest in the 30-year-old indicates many teams believe his best football is behind him. At least one team has shown interest in the three-time Pro Bowler, but apparently not enough.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the New Orleans Saints invited Murray to work out for them on Wednesday, but Murray turned it down because other running backs were meeting with the team at the same time.
Saints reached out to RB DeMarco Murray to bring him to New Orleans for a workout today, but he preferred not to work out with a large group of RBs, per source. Murray still waiting for right opportunity and believes he is ready to make a significant contribution in 2018.

Murray’s production was way down last season, and he may have to adjust his expectations in free agency. He had 184 carries with the Tennessee Titans and rushed for just 659 yards, which averaged out to a career-worst 3.6 yards per carry.
Murray has reportedly met with some teams already this offseason, yet he remains unsigned. His situation seems similar to the one Adrian Peterson was in a year ago, which didn’t really end well for AP. It almost never does for running backs on the wrong side of 30.
