DeSean Jackson has an opportunity for a fresh start with the Washington Redskins. Even if you don’t believe the reports about Jackson being linked to a gang or throwing temper tantrums and cussing out Chip Kelly, we can all agree his image is in need of repair. Showing up to work early would be a good way to kick things off, but Jackson is on vacation.
Because they have a new head coach, the Redskins were allowed to begin their official offseason workout program two weeks early. As Crossing Broad pointed out, Robert Griffin III and other key players have been present. Jackson has been on an island somewhere, which we know by looking at his Instagram page.
Some will argue that the workouts are not a big deal. It’s only April, and Jackson probably had this vacation planned well before he was traded. Others will criticize the 27-year-old Pro Bowler and say he should have cancelled the vacation to prove his commitment to his new team. Personally, I’m with the former group. I don’t think it’s a big deal. If it was any other player, no one would be talking about it.
