Drew Brees announces $5 million donation to Louisiana during coronavirus outbreak

Drew Brees

Professional athletes continue to find ways to do their part to support those who have been impacted by the coronavirus pandemic, and Drew Brees announced on Thursday that his family is making a massive donation to the state of Louisiana.

Brees and his wife Brittany are committing $5 million to help Louisiana communities, which have been hit harder by the coronavirus outbreak than many other states. Some of the money will be used to help deliver 10,000 meals per day to children, seniors and families that have been impacted.

Brees recently signed a new two-year, $50 million deal with the New Orleans Saints, and it is great to see him putting a large chunk of that money to good use. He’s just the latest in a string of athletes, executives and team owners who have committed significant money and resources to helping families through a difficult time.

The donation from Brees and his wife will only further solidify them as some of the most beloved figures in the New Orleans area. Brees showed his commitment to Louisiana by refusing to play for any team other than the Saints, and his generous donation goes well beyond that.
