Report: Drew Brees would have to take hometown discount to return to Saints
Drew Brees may have to take a hometown discount if he wants to return to New Orleans next season, according to a report.
Brees has a $30 million cap figure in 2016, and if the Saints were to bring him back, they’d want it to be cheaper, with some in the Saints organization still frustrated that Brees maximized his deal previously, according to NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport.
What about #Saints QB Drew Brees, who has a $30M cap figure in 2016? I'm told he has to take a hometown discount to return.

Internally with the #Saints, there is still frustration that Drew Brees maximized his contract last time. They feel it caused depth issues.

The 36-year-old Brees would be in the final year of his deal next year, but if he’s not willing to restructure, he may be out the door a year early. There is no word on how willing Brees would be to restructure.
Brees may not be the only key figure whose days in New Orleans are numbered, with Sean Payton possibly departing as well.
