Dwayne Haskins feels he has ‘great relationship’ with Redskins

Dwayne Haskins

Dwayne Haskins sits in an interesting position as the consensus second-best quarterback in the NFL Draft class, and speculation has him going anywhere from the top ten into the 20s.

One team that has his attention, however, picks in the middle of all that: the Washington Redskins, who hold the 15th overall selection.

Haskins visited the Redskins, and seems very interested in what they have to offer.

“There’s definitely something there,” Haskins said Monday on NFL Network, via Grant Gordon of NFL.com. “I feel like there’s a great relationship with the Redskins. My mentor Shawn Springs played for the Redskins. Great relationship with [owner] Mr. [Daniel] Snyder and the rest of the Redskins ownership. Whatever team picks me, I’ll be excited to be a part of, but there’s definitely something there in D.C.”

The question becomes whether Haskins will make it to 15, and if Washington’s interest will be mutual if he gets there. They have left the door open on picking a quarterback in the first round, but have made clear that if they do, they’re going to be thrown right into the line of fire. It’s up to them whether Haskins would be ready for that responsibility.
