We now know why Eli Manning looked so forlorn after his brother Peyton’s Denver Broncos locked up the Super Bowl.
TMZ Sports cornered Manning on Monday to ask him what was up with his stone-faced reaction as the rest of the family celebrated around him. His answer was, well, not terribly exciting.
“I was just focused on whether they’d go for two and the defense had to step up and make some stops,” Eli said.
Eli also conceded that the memes that came about from the reaction were funny, and no, he doesn’t know if Peyton is retiring or not either.
So basically, Eli was just laser-focused on the game and the strategy when the CBS cameras caught that reaction and not because he can no longer brag about having more rings than big brother. Fair enough, Eli, though the other explanation is much more fun.
