Eli Manning unsure if he will be Giants’ starting QB in 2019

Eli Manning

There is at least a decent chance that Eli Manning could be playing his final game as the starting quarterback of the New York Giants on Sunday, but he insists he is not viewing it that way.

While speaking with the media on Wednesday, Manning was asked if he believes he will still be under center for the Giants in Week 1 next season. Whereas in years past he has expressed confidence that he isn’t going anywhere, he seems far less certain this time around.

Manning will turn 38 next month, and he admitted that his age could be a factor.

“Hey, I think whenever you get to year 15, these things come up,” he said.

The Giants will likely try to find a quarterback in the NFL Draft, but that does not mean they will want to start a rookie next season. That’s why we have been hearing rumblings that Manning is expected to remain the starter at least at the beginning of next year.

Manning started out horribly this year, but the Giants have had a decent second half and he is playing better. Either way, he clearly is not capable of making throws down the field the way he used to. His uncertain future probably has more to do with New York not having other options and less to do with his own abilities at this stage in his career.
