Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow was injured during his team’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, and many people had the same reaction to the play.
Burrow suffered a toe injury when he was sacked on a 3rd-and-25 play midway through the second quarter at Paycor Stadium in Cincinnati, Ohio. Burrow was swarmed by Jaguars defenders on the play and brought down by his feet. Multiple defenders appeared to fall on his lower body.
Burrow remained down on the turf and was examined by trainers before being helped off the field.

Burrow went into the blue medical tent and then the locker room. The Bengals later announced that he sustained a toe injury and was questionable to return.
The sack that led to Burrow’s injury was his second of Sunday’s game. He was also sacked three times in Week 1. That is why fans were quick to blame Cincinnati’s suspect offensive line for not doing a good enough job of protecting Burrow.

Both franchises failing to surround their franchise QB with competent pass protection
The amount of hits Burrow takes is indefensible. Protect your biggest asset. Cincy has failed at that.

Joe Burrow getting hurt because of his offensive line still being a storyline in year 6 of his career is saddening

Just a friendly reminder that Joe Burrow was given the bare minimum possible investment in his iOL.

Also a friendly reminder that he relies on iOL protection more than almost any QB in the league.
The Bengals had major offensive line issues entering the season, which has become a theme for them throughout Burrow’s career. With Burrow’s lengthy injury history, many have wondered why Cincinnati has not made more of an effort to improve their offensive front.
If the Bengals are fortunate enough that Burrow did not suffer a major injury, they will need to find a way to protect him going forward. Otherwise, they will stand virtually no chance at making a playoff run in 2025.
