Tony Romo just pulled off a Chris Collinsworth during Saturday night’s game between the Buffalo Bills and the Denver Broncos at Empower Field at Mile High in Denver, Colo.
Already facing criticism for the quality of his work in the 2025 NFL season for CBS Sports, Romo didn’t help improve people’s perception of him as a broadcaster when he made a mistake while calling the game.
In the second quarter, Bills quarterback Josh Allen showed his wheels to escape the Broncos’ defense, picking up a lot of yards in the process. While breaking down the replay of Allen’s run, Romo referred to Allen as “Mahomes.” Romo did not even stutter, even after the mistake.

Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs did not even make the NFL playoffs as they finished the regular season with just a 6-11 record, but Romo somehow made the three-time Super Bowl champion’s presence felt during the divisional round.
As a result of his blunder, Romo unsurprisingly got roasted on social media.

As someone who’s built a reputation for making crazy plays on the field, Mahomes will always be someone color commentators like Tony Romo will bring up — intentionally or not — when discussing great plays.
