Fantasy Football Do’s and Don’ts

TJ Who's Your Mama

MJD had an outstanding Debriefing column on Wednesday. It was about fantasy do’s and don’ts. I’ve been a huge fantasy sports guy for quite some time, thus I’m generally a fan of such lists. Matt Berry back in the day had some awesome ones, The Sports Guy did too, and of course, MJD belongs right there on the list. Some of the highlights:

DO: Establish a predetermined punishment for the first person who drafts a player who’s already been taken.

Last year in our draft, one guy tried to take Lee Evans three times. I kid you not. Three times.

DON’T: Hand out a do-over to the guy who screws up and takes someone who blew out his ACL in the preseason.

DO: Bring an extra cheat sheet. But not an entirely honest one. Every year, someone’s going to show up without a cheat sheet, and ask if they can borrow one from someone else. When this happens … be ready.

It was a tremendous list, and well worth a read. While we’re at it, if you haven’t read the following posts on fantasy football, do yourself a favor and click on over: Big Daddy Drew’s guide to naming your fantasy football team. I must confess, I stole the Ookie Blalock’s for a league, but I may be exchanging it for The Tex Goldsteins. Also, The Ghosts of Wayne Fontes has a guide to finding a sleeper. Lastly, you must also check out the following video to understand the most important rule of all.

NEVER MISS THE EFFING DRAFT!!!!!
