FAU WR John Franklin III runs blazing 4.19 40-yard dash
One name to watch out for at the NFL Combine will be John Franklin III.
A video posted to YouTube last week shows Franklin running a blazing 4.19 40-yard dash time:
Franklin was a well-traveled college player who will be looking to make it as a wide receiver in the NFL.
Franklin began his career as a quarterback at Florida State. He transferred to East Mississippi Community College after that (aka “Last Chance U”), served mostly as a backup quarterback, then transferred to Auburn where he was a third-string QB. He ended up at Lane Kiffin’s FAU program last year as a graduate transfer, playing wide receiver.
Franklin caught seven passes for 95 yards and a touchdown. He also rushed for 229 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries for FAU. Unsurprisingly, Franklin was a sprinter for Florida State’s track team. You may recall that he once was the subject of some trash talk from Jalen Ramsey.
If he’s able to turn in another 40-time similar to that at the combine, he could attract some attention as a late-round pick.
