Frank Clark: Chiefs played ‘soft’ on Titans’ game-winning drive
The Kansas City Chiefs folded defensively in the final minute and a half of Sunday’s game against the Tennessee Titans, allowing their opponents to go 61 yards in less than a minute to take a lead that ultimately held up.
Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill needed just four plays to take the team into the end zone, including an 18-yard scramble and a pair of 20-plus-yard passes. Tannehill’s domination of the Kansas City defense did not sit well with lineman Frank Clark, who called the Chiefs “soft” after the game.
Frank Clark told me he felt the #Chiefs defense came out “soft” on the final drive and that the #Titans came out more aggressive than they did on that drive. Clark also said they didn’t expect Tannehill to come out and run as physically as he did today.

It’s never great when a key player basically admits that the other team wanted it more, but that’s Clark’s implication. “Soft” is a very harsh word in a football context, so for Clark to go to it here indicates that he was clearly angry and frustrated by Kansas City’s response — or lack thereof — on Tennessee’s final drive.
This was a game where essentially everything went wrong for the Chiefs in the last two minutes. In addition to this defensive performance, Kansas City’s special teams were completely inept down the stretch and helped cost the team the game.
