Frank Gore promises to retire as a 49er

Though it seems like he’s an ageless wonder who will never retire, the day is coming when 35-year-old Frank Gore’s NFL career will come to a close. And he promises it will come to a close with the team where he made his name.

Gore said Friday that he has every intention of signing a one-day contract to retire as a member of the San Francisco 49ers.

“When I’m done, I’m going to come back and retire as a Niner.” – @frankgore on @957thegame . #49ers #49wz

Gore still has strong feelings about the 49ers, and a clear affection for the organization. He spent the first ten years of his career there and made five Pro Bowls while also appearing in a Super Bowl. It’s not a huge surprise that he’d want to officially retire a 49er.

However, that remains at least a year away. He’s already caught on with a different team for 2019.
