The Dallas Cowboys began the season with a 28-20 loss to the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.
Cowboys star wide receiver George Pickens had just 3 catches for 28 yards and two costly drops in the season opener. On Wednesday, Pickens opened up about the drops while speaking to reporters.
“It’s football. You’re gonna have some here, you’re gonna have some there,” Pickens said, via Jon Machota of The Athletic. “But you definitely want to limit those just to make the big plays, because I know that’s what I’m capable of.”
Here were the two drops by Pickens, and both were catchable balls that the wide receiver would love to have back.

It wasn’t a great start to the season for Pickens, who dealt with contract issues this offseason. The Cowboys gave Pickens the franchise tag instead of a long-term deal, meaning this is an important year if the wide receiver wants to cash in via free agency.
Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer said, “George will be just fine,” and added that he doesn’t “worry about George.”
Pickens and the Cowboys will try to respond in Week 2 with an NFC East clash against the Washington Commanders at AT&T Stadium.
