The New York Giants are expected to be fined by the NFL for illegally using a walkie-talking during last Sunday’s win over the Dallas Cowboys.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that no final determination has been made, but a fine is likely coming. Although officials in other organizations are said to have “complained privately” about the violation, the Giants are not expected to lose any draft picks as part of their punishment.
The Giants had trouble with their electronic communications during the fourth quarter of their 10-7 victory over Dallas, and head coach Ben McAdoo used a walkie-talkie to communicate with quarterback Eli Manning when the headsets went down. A source told Schefter the Giants were not communicating with Manning within 15 seconds of the play clock expiring (which is when the headsets are supposed to cut off), but using a walkie-talkie is illegal and gives the team an opportunity to gain an unfair advantage.

In 2014, the Cleveland Browns lost a draft pick when former general manager Ray Farmer and former offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan were illegally communicating during the game. Some feel what McAdoo and the Giants did is a more serious violation than what the Browns did.
Manning made some wishy-walkie remarks during the week when asked about the walk-talkie communications. You can read what he said here.
