Giants hoping to trade star player?
The New York Giants used the second overall pick in the draft on Saquon Barkley four years ago, but it sounds like they are ready to move on from the star running back.
ESPN’s Dan Graziano reports that there is a “sense” Barkley will not be with the Giants next season. The team is hoping to get a mid-round pick in a potential trade for Barkley, though his injury history and the $7.2 million he is owed next season will make him tough to move.
Barkley has battled some significant injuries over the past few years, and those have prevented him from fulfilling his seemingly endless potential. He played in just two games in 2020 before tearing his ACL and then had injury issues last season. Barkley averaged just 3.7 yards per carry in 13 games in 2021.
There’s been some mixed messaging about whether the Giants want to keep Barkley or not. If the right offer is made, they clearly will consider moving the 25-year-old.
