Gregg Williams will reportedly be Browns’ interim coach

The Cleveland Browns have their interim head coach.

According to Mary Kay Cabot of cleveland.com, defensive coordinator Gregg Williams will serve as the team’s interim coach.

Williams has three years of head coaching experience, all with the Buffalo Bills, where he went 17-31 from 2001 through 2003. He was also, infamously, the defensive coordinator of the New Orleans Saints who was found responsible for the Bountygate scandal. Notably, he was also one of the assistants former coach Hue Jackson clashed with in public at times.

Williams almost certainly won’t be holding the job permanently, but the Browns aren’t really going to push for contention this year, so odds are he’ll simply see out the season and move on.
