Insane stat shows how badly the Ravens collapsed against the Bills

The Baltimore Ravens appeared to be in complete control against the Buffalo Bills until the final four minutes on Sunday night, and there is one stat from the game that shows just how improbable it was for Lamar Jackson and company to lose.

The Ravens were leading 40-25 before the Bills scored 16 unanswered points in the final 3:56 to come back and win 41-40 at Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, N.Y. Derrick Henry appeared to put the game away for Baltimore when he rushed for a 46-yard touchdown with around 12 minutes remaining, but the All-Pro running back had a costly fumble not long after that.

Buffalo managed to get multiple stops late in the fourth quarter, including a three-and-out on a Ravens drive that began with 1:58 left in the game. Josh Allen then orchestrated a game-winning drive that was capped off with a 32-yard field goal from Matt Prater as time expired.

The Ravens became the first team in NFL history to lose a game in which a team scored 40 or more points and rushed for 235 or more yards. Previously, teams that accomplished that feat were an incredible 277-0.

That makes Baltimore’s loss among the rarest you will ever see from an NFL team. Everything had to go wrong for the Ravens down the stretch while simultaneously going right for the Bills, and that is exactly what happened.

Allen finished 33/46 for 394 yards, 2 touchdowns and no interceptions. He also ran for 30 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Jackson also played at an MVP level with an efficient 14/19 for 209 yards, 2 touchdowns and no interceptions. Jackson ran for 70 yards and a touchdown. In the end, it wasn’t quite enough.

The Bills deserve credit for finding a way to win when the game seemed all but over. Baltimore made more than a few mistakes, however, and head coach John Harbaugh was crucified over one late-game decision.
