J.J. Watt defends Cam Newton’s dancing
The last time we checked in J.J. Watt and his interaction on Twitter, he was responding to a critic who called him a “try hard.” This time around, he’s defending Cam Newton.
Cam Newton has been squarely in the cross hairs of many this season because of his dances after scoring touchdowns, which he did a lot of so there were plenty of opportunities to celebrate them. Among those who don’t have a problem with what Newton does is J.J. Watt.
Watt was engaged by a Twitter user, whose account is no longer active, on Tuesday. While we do not know what was originally said to the All-Pro defensive end, we do know how he feels about celebrating a big play.
If Cam scores, he deserves to dance. Football is a game, it's supposed to be fun. I dance after sacks… It's a game https://t.co/DqCsUMDVKk

The fun police were out in full force this season, but they never phased Newton, nor should they. Part of what makes him so likable is the joy and passion he plays the game with. On the other hand, the exuberance is also what leads to Newton being disliked.
Cam Newton may have his fair share of detractors, but if you’re going to have someone on your side, J.J. Watt is certainly a good one.
