Jaguars reportedly not planning to trade Jalen Ramsey

Jalen Ramsey

The Jacksonville Jaguars have been entertaining trade inquiries for Jalen Ramsey over the past week, but apparently they have decided they do not want to deal the All-Pro cornerback.

The Jaguars have yet to trade Ramsey because they are no longer interested in doing so, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Sunday. Ramsey has not backed off of his demand to be traded, but the Jaguars are planning to stand their ground in the wake of their big divisional win over the Tennessee Titans on Thursday night.

It was previously reported that Jags owner Shad Khan does not want to part ways with Ramsey and is willing to make him the highest-paid cornerback in football, so that is likely the driving force behind Jacksonville turning away all offers to this point. They were also said to be seeking two first-round picks in any potential deal, and it’s possible they have not gotten an offer they deem worthy and are looking to drive the price up.

The AFC South looks like a very weak division this year, and rookie quarterback Gardner Minshew has played well since taking over for the injured Nick Foles. If the Jaguars feel like they can win the division, they may prefer to hang onto Ramsey and see how far he is willing to take his trade demand. Obviously, the situation could change if he becomes a major headache.

At least one team is said to have made a respectable offer for Ramsey, but the Jags turned it away. Ramsey is under contract through 2020, so Jacksonville does not need to be in a rush to work out a resolution if they are willing to deal with the drama.
