The Miami Dolphins have been openly looking to trade Jalen Ramsey this offseason, and a reunion could potentially be in the works for the star cornerback.

Ramsey and the Dolphins have mutually agreed to explore trade possibilities. During an appearance on “SportsCenter” Sunday, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler said the Los Angeles Rams are one team that has expressed interest in Ramsey.

Part of the issue in trade talks has been that Ramsey is still owed $24 million in guarantees, however.

“I’m told Ramsey does want to play for a contender. So, he wouldn’t just go to any team, considering his age, his pedigree as a Super Bowl winner. The sticking point here is that $24 million in guarantees,” Fowler said, as transcribed by Scott Polacek of Bleacher Report. “My sense after asking around is Miami has not been overly eager to cover some of that bill, which sort of makes a trade hard to pull off right now. L.A. Rams, it could be a reunion here. They’ve been in the mix here, they are a team to watch, certainly for Ramsey.”

The Rams traded Ramsey to the Dolphins ahead of the 2023 season. Ramsey played three seasons in L.A. from 2019-2021. He made the Pro Bowl in all three and was named a First-team All-Pro twice. Ramsey was a key part of the Rams’ defense when they won the Super Bowl in 2021.

Though he is officially on the wrong side of 30, Ramsey is just two seasons removed from his last Pro Bowl appearance. He played in all 17 games in 2024, finishing with 60 total tackles, 2 interceptions and 11 passes defended.

Ramsey signed an extension with the Dolphins prior to last season that made him the highest-paid cornerback in the NFL at the time. It sounds like other teams have concerns about taking on that deal, so Miami may have to eat some of the money if they want something of significant value in return for Ramsey.
