Jamaal Charles: Packers outplayed and outcoached us

The Kansas City Chiefs had no answers for the Green Bay Packers Monday night, and the end result was a 38-28 loss that probably could have been much worse. In addition to being outplayed in all facets of the game, the Chiefs were also outcoached.

Just ask Jamaal Charles.

Charles, who was a bright spot for Kansas City with three touchdowns, was disappointed in himself, his teammates and his coaching staff.

“It looked like they outplayed us, it looked like they outcoached us, and I feel like (Green Bay) came out with a lot of energy — we didn’t come out with a lot of energy,” Charles said after the loss, per Terez A. Paylor of The Kansas City Star. “We’re sorry we didn’t come out excited, given the high expectations people had for us tonight. We let a lot of people down. We let the fans down.”

Reid didn’t disagree, as he said several times that the poor performance on offense and defense was “my responsibility.” In reality, the Chiefs simply ran into the buzz saw that is Aaron Rodgers at home in a primetime game. It’s a spot the Packers almost never fail in.

Charles managed to sneak in a shot at Rodgers after one of his scores, but he had very little to celebrate. The Chiefs found themselves trailing 24-7 at halftime, and it felt like they had no chance of coming back. After a promising start to the season in Week 1, they now find themselves with a 1-2 record and in desperate need of a bounce-back with a road game coming up against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Best of luck with that.
