Jamal Adams expecting contract extension from Jets despite issues with team
Jamal Adams is ready to get paid.
The standout safety clarified reports Wednesday that contract extension talks had begun between his agents and the New York Jets. Adams said that the talks were in very early stages, but added that he “fully” expects to receive a new deal this offseason.
Just to clear this up… we’ve had small discussions thus far, not in detailed talks yet, just talked about it. With that being said, I fully expect to be extended this offseason. I want to be in New York! https://t.co/ecJGxIiofG

Adams had 75 total tackles and 6.5 sacks in 2019, and will enter the final year of his rookie deal in 2020. He’s developed into an All-Pro defensive back, so the Jets will likely feel some urgency to tie him down long-term, and understandably so.
The Jets reportedly explored trade possibilities centered around Adams last season, which the safety did not appreciate. Given Adams’ stated desire to remain with the Jets, it appears he’s past that and eager to sign. It remains to be seen if the Jets feel the same way, but the early indications are that they do.
